How Do You Handle Corrections?
Let’s be honest, nobody likes to be corrected.
It’s not exactly a warm hug and a Jazzy Burger, right? π
Sometimes, it comes from someone younger than you. Sometimes, from a boss, a friend, or even a stranger online. And the first reaction for many of us is… to defend, to explain, or to get offended.
But here’s the thing:
A closed heart can’t learn.
And a proud spirit can’t grow.
The Bible says in Proverbs 12:1, “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.” (That’s the Bible talking, not me. Go and fight King Solomon if you’re upset. π€ͺ)
The real question is:
When someone corrects you, do you pause and listen for the lesson?
Or are you too busy feeling attacked to notice the wisdom?
Sometimes, God uses people, even people we don’t “rate”, to point out blind spots.
It’s not about humiliation.
It’s about growth.
Yes, not all correction is delivered in love.
Yes, some people are harsh.
But if there’s truth in it, why throw away gold just because it came in a rusty package?
Next time someone points out your mistake, breathe.
Listen first. Filter the delivery. Keep the lesson.
Because a teachable heart will go further in life than a talented one.
